The Winged Woman Symbol

The Symbol

Winged Woman

The name all really started with this drawing. I had been practicing as an energy healer for a few years and felt that I and my business had evolved into something new.  I no longer resonated with my old business name or design. I started to journal about this and meditate over the course of a few weeks. One evening I meditated asking for any imagery that I should paint afterwards. What came out of me after the meditation was a picture with triangles similar to the above. From there I continued to sketch until it felt complete. What I didn't realize was the meaning behind the drawing until after I was finished.

Triangles have a lot of meaning and symbolism from many different cultures and religions.

A downward facing triangle represents an ancient symbolism of femininity— that which is receiving of energy. Its element is water and symbolizes intuition + the unconscious mind. An upward facing triangle represents the masculine energy— that which is rising energy. Its element is fire and symbolizes aspiration.

To me, the smaller upward triangle within the other means that fire energy within us. The inner male energy has the power to take our ideas into the world of action! The strength to move forward and expand ourselves, our intuition, our spirituality. To awaken the feminine energy– make it stronger and more intuitive.

The combination of the two create a power that breaks us away from our past + our old selves.

Who Is a winged woman?

It is someone who has something inside telling them “there has to be more than this”. They are ready for a new direction in life, ready to let go of what has been holding them back for years. They feel like something isn’t right that is just bursting to get out. They may want a new career, change in their relationships, open up a side of them that has been hidden, become more spiritual…whatever it is they want something different but are currently stuck and ready to be unstuck. They can also be a Winged Man– we all have feminine and masculine energy within us that help us be who we are.

The main element of a person like this is that they are ready to CHANGE.

Triangles also symbolize change and a person cannot spread their wings and try something new if they are not willing to break out of their shell to do this. That requires something to change in your life if you want new to come in. You can’t just be the same person doing things you always have and expect things to be different.

Change is a force. It's the fire within us. Just like that triangle. It makes us want to Break free + Fly.
